Comprehensive Eye Exams
Whether you need vision correction or not, it is important for everyone to have a yearly comprehensive eye exam. During the eye exam the doctor can detect glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. Early detection allows for more treatment options and giving the chance of reducing or reversing the symptoms.
It is really important if you have a family history of any eye problems or are at a high risk of diabetes and/or high blood pressure. There are also some medications that may affect the eyes. We recommend getting an eye exam yearly for every one.
During the exam the doctor will determine if there are any vision changes and also determine if there are any changes to the health of the eyes.

Contact Lens Fitting
Contact lens exams include tests that are not always performed in regular comprehensive eye exams. If you want to update your contact lens prescription, or want to try them for the first time, please let us know when you schedule your appointment.
We offer a variety of contact lenses and we will ask questions about your lifestyle to find the best contact lens for you. We offer daily, bi-weekly, and monthly contacts. We also offer rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP) contact lenses for those that may need it.
If you are a first time contact lens wearer our technicians will sit down with you and teach you how to insert, remove, handle, and care for your contact lenses. It can be very intimidating the first time you try them, but your technicians are trained to help you find the best way.

Single Vision: Single vision lenses can be used for every day wear if no reading power is needed, reading only, or distance only.
Flat Top Bifocal: These lenses are designed to help you if you need a distance and near correction.
Progressive: Progressives, also known as No-Line Bifocals, are designed to help you with distance, intermediate, and near.
Anti-Reflective: Anti-Reflective will help reduce the glare for night time driving, computer work, and just every day lighting.
Transitions: Transitions are designed to darken into a sun glass when you are outside and become clear when you are inside. This is a perfect option for someone who works outside or hates changing glasses.
Lasik Consultation
Lasik is a surgery that will correct your vision. During the procedure a laser is used to reshape the inner cornea.

Pediatric Eye Exams
Here at Altus Eye Care, we are proud to offer pediatric eye examinations. Children should have their first eye exam around the age of six months. If the first exam finds that their eyes are healthy, they won’t need another appointment until they are between the age of two and three.
Although many schools offer annual eye exams, they are not complete visual exams and the results can be inaccurate. For this reason, you should schedule yearly or bi-yearly examinations to ensure that your child’s eyes are healthy and that he or she can see clearly.

Sunglasses should be used for your eyes just like you use sunscreen for your skin. We offer prescription and non-prescription sunglasses for men, women, and children.
